Private Content Going Offline / コンテンツの非公開について

December 21st, 2008

I’ve moved all of the “private” and family content offline for general privacy-protection reasons and to keep the amount of Google-stored non-public content to a minimum. I also plan to start using the blog for more work-related writing and things, and so it makes sense to go ahead and hide the assorted off-color and family stuff.

Consequently, family and friends that are interested in reading the personal stuff will need to login in order to see any of this content. Please use the Register link at the bottom of the right navigation menu to create an account, or I can create one for you here if you prefer.

WordPress Migration in Progress

May 6th, 2008

I’ve moved off the servers at the incredibly lame Intermedia.Net and over to a different provider. Among the many sucky things about Intermedia is that they don’t make an Export function available for their WordPress installations. All I have is an SQL backup of the data, which seems not to work at all when moving from 2.0.x to 2.5.x. Please tell me I’m not going to have to re-enter all my posts manually…

New Blog

October 2nd, 2006

I realized that one of the reasons why I had become so loathe to blog anything was my dissatisfaction with Movable Type. Over the weekend I migrated over to WordPress in an extremely painless process facilitated by my ISP Intermedia, and while I was at it also installed a photo gallery program so I don’t have to keep uploading images through some clunky blog interface. The export/import process was super easy as well, making me wonder why I didn’t do it earlier. Because this installation of WP is a “hosted application” provided by the ISP I don’t have complete control over the design and interface, but images and basic CSS are available for tweaking so I’ve been playing with those to get the UI in shape.

Anyway, it’s Monday and another busy week. I’ll be heading to Kumamoto at the end of the week to join Rie and Mia as we head into Baby Countdown again. She’s not due until late in the month, but all indications suggest she’ll be early, and so will I be in getting down there. Looks to be an exciting trip…
